It was founded by a mom whose son developed cancer when she discovered that the treatments for pediatric cancers lagged behind treatments available for adults. You can show your support in many ways. Are you interested in rescuing dogs? My sister adopted a rescue Bouvier from the American Bouvier Rescue League (ABRL) and she is so in love with her pet & so impressed with the work that ABRL does that she decided to become one of their volunteers.

Want to know more about Bouviers?... Well, the full name of the breed is "Bouvier des Flandres." They are a beautiful, intelligent breed of dogs that many people don't even know about, but they are quite special (in fact President Regan's dog, Lucky, was a Bouvier). They are gentle, loyal, & protective in nature. The breed's unique blend of characteristics makes them good family pets, as well as keen guard dogs.

"Dutchess" - 1 1/2 year old female rescued Bouvier Duchess, pictured at far right in this photo with her new Bouvier friends, is estimated to be about 19 months of age. Twenty-five inches at the shoulder, she is tall, with docked tail, natural ears and a lustrous deep black coat. Dutchess is good with dogs & affectionate with her own household people but she does need work on socialization with new people. Dutch loves to play ball and is agile and fast, catching most throws on the fly. She is very active and will need a fairly large sized area for exercise with a secure fence as she is a strong dog with a very high prey drive. No cats for her! Dutch can be quite protective of her owner(s), so a home with kids in and out all day would not be a good setting for her. A Bouvier-experienced owner will be best.
